The Commerce High School golf teams fell to Jackson County 179-212 last Wednesday as they opened their seasons in heavy winds at Traditions of Braselton.
The Commerce boys fell to the Panthers 179-212.
Dalton Dean, who shot a 49, was the low medalist for the Tigers. Sage Culpepper (50), Wesley Counts (52) and Wade McMahan (61) rounded out scoring for Commerce.
The Lady Tigers fell to the Panthers 94-109.
Hannah McRee led the Tigers with a 52, while Emmie Burley posted a 57 and Akyn Trudnak shot a 60.
“It was a tough match for the kids hitting against some hard winds and off of wet grass,” said Tiger coach Matthew Lund. “Playing in rough conditions will do nothing but help them down the stretch, though. They’ve got to learn to deal with it and play golf.”
Commerce will play in a tri-match with Jefferson and East Jackson at Double Oaks Golf Club today (Wednesday). The Tigers will travel to Jennings Mill Country Club for a matchup with Oglethorpe County on Thursday.
