The East Jackson baseball team fell to Cedar Shoals last Wednesday as a seventh-inning rally by the Eagles ultimately fizzled.
East Jackson’s offense jumped out to an early lead, racking up three runs in the first inning, but Cedar Shoals quickly answered by taking a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the second inning.
The Jaguars added four runs in the fourth inning and one run in the fifth to go up 9-3.
East Jackson scored two runs in the sixth inning and four more in the seventh, but Cedar Shoals’ lone run in the final two innings secured a 10-9 Jaguar victory.
Robert McKay had three hits in four at-bats and crossed home plate twice. Jared Richards, Josh Valles and Trey Mimes each drove in a run for the Eagles.
Josh Hansard fanned five batters in three innings while allowing no earned runs.
East Jackson (2-7) hosts Tallulah Falls for its final non-region contest of the season on Friday at 5:55 p.m.
