The Banks County High School boys’ tennis team improved its record to 4-2 after defeating Habersham Central and Hart County last week.
On Monday (Feb. 24), the Leopards knocked off Habersham Central 4-1.
Paul Coughlin won 6-2, 6-7, (10-4) in No. 1 singles, while Bobby Nguyen won 6-2, 6-4 in No. 2 singles.
Luke Schaefer fell 0-6, 4-6 in No. 3 singles play. The No. 1 doubles pair of Chris Willis and Jonathan Hudson defeated the Raiders 6-3, 6-4, while Justin Yang and Alex Amato were victorious in No. 2 doubles (6-2, 7-6).
“I’m very proud of our boys win,” said head coach Jim McKinney. “It was a big win over a big school. Our team seems to be really coming together.”
The following day, the Leopards defeated Hart County 4-1.
Coughlin won 6-3, 7-5 in No. 1 singles. Nguyen lost 4-6, 4-6 in No. 2 singles.
Schaefer won 7-5, 6-1 in No. 3 singles.
The No. 1 doubles pair of Willis and Hudson defeated the Bulldogs 6-2, 6-1, while Yang and Amato were victorious in a No. 2 doubles tiebreaker (6-0, 4-6 (10-7)).
On Friday, the Leopards fell 4-1 on the road at Jefferson.
Willis and Hudson earned the Leopards only win in a 6-2, 6-1 No. 1 doubles victory.
On Thursday, Banks County will travel to White County for a Region 7-AAA matchup with the Warriors.
