The Winder-Barrow High School baseball team was looking to gain experience against quality opposition during its trip to Augusta last weekend.
That mission was accomplished.
The Diamond Doggs (2-2 overall) defeated Lakeside Evans 8-7 Friday before returning to the field for two games Saturday, a 7-1 loss to Effingham County and a 7-0 setback to Evans.
“Overall, it was a good trip for getting to know what we have,” WBHS coach Brian Smith said. “We were tested by some good teams. We saw some areas where we need to get better at. It was a good team bonding trip and a baseball experience. We had a lot of fun with it.”
