JEFFERSON locked up the number one seed in next week’s Region 8-AA on Tuesday after defeating Rabun County 75-70 at home.
Four Dragons scored in double figures as a late fourth-period run helped Jefferson close out the Wildcats.
Connor McCullough led the Dragons with 18 points, while Tay Taylor and Roc Young contributed 17 points each. Satchel Turpin added 10 points.
Jefferson (18-5, 8-0) is ranked eighth in Class AA heading into its final two matchups of the season, both of which are against Union County.
On Wednesday (today), the Dragons will travel to Blairsville, while the Panthers will visit Jefferson on Friday to close out the regular season.
While details are still to be determined, Jefferson has clinched the number one seed in Region 8-AA and will likely host the region tournament, which begins Feb. 11.
The number one seed also automatically qualifies the Dragons for the state tournament.
Last week, Jefferson notched two home victories.
On Friday, the Dragons knocked off Riverside Military Academy 64-37.
Young led scoring with 16 points, while Turpin and Taylor each contributed 12.
Saturday, Jefferson defeated North Hall 69-51 in the Dragons’ final non-region contest of the season.
Young, Taylor and Turpin scored 14 points apiece, while McCullough added 10.
