The Commerce High School and Middle School swim teams competed in their fourth meet of the season at the Tallulah Falls Winter Snow Meet last Saturday at the Ruby Fulbright Center in Clarkesville.
The two middle school team members won their events, with Kate Massey finishing first in the 100-yard individual medley and the 50-yard butterfly and Jessie Pritchett taking first in the 50-yard freestyle while achieving a personal best time and placing second in the 100-yard breaststroke.
The high school swimmers swam Saturday afternoon. Freshman Kendall Moon won both of her individual events and she achieved a personal best swim in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard breaststroke. Another freshman, Anna Caroline Hardy, placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a personal best time as well.
The 200-yard medley relay team out-swam six other teams to place third as Moon led with the backstroke, Hardy swam the breaststroke, and sophomores Ashley Harold and Brittany Packer finished the relay by swimming the butterfly and freestyle respectively.
“Overall, our team did really well,” said coach Lisa Langston. “Akyn Trudnak and Brittany Packer swam personal best swims, and I am proud that they are taking time off the clock on their individual events. Our relays are getting stronger as we are switching swimmers to try different strokes to determine our fastest combination. I am impressed with all our team members.”
Many swimmers will continue to swim over the Christmas break as they prepare for the second half of the season, which begins on Jan. 3 back in Clarkesville.
