The magical season for the Apalachee High School volleyball team came to an end Saturday in the Elite Eight.
The Lady Wildcats fell 3-0 to Dunwoody, but not before making program history by reaching the quarterfinals for the first time.
AHS pushed Dunwoody to a 28-26 opening game before falling 25-19 and 25-11. Cammie Alfonso had nine kills in the match.
The Lady Wildcats finished 2013 with a program best 40 victories.
Alfonso was named the Player of the Year for Area 8-AAAAA and will be one of the key players who will have to be replaced for AHS next season. The program has become a perennial state playoff qualifer for coach Joey Alfonso.
