To say Friday’s 29-21 loss to Loganville High School was a disappointment for the Apalachee High School football team would be a massive understatement.
The Wildcats led throughout the game into the fourth quarter before the visiting Red Devils mounted an improbable rally to earn the Region 8-AAAAA victory. Even two days later, the loss still stung for AHS coach Shane Davis.
“I’m sure I’ve experienced similar losses that were just as disappointing, but none of them come to mind right now,” Davis said. “This one is going to hurt for a while. I am just disappointed for our kids because they continue to work, go all out and play with character. I am hurting for them. Did we deserve the win more? That’s hard to say. However, I know we have a group who is dealing with a lot of adversity they aren’t used to right now.”
