Panthers take third in MainStreet Invitational

It was a good showing last week for the Jackson County Panthers cross country team at the MainStreet Invitational, held at East Jackson, as both teams placed third overall.

It was a good final tune-up for the Panthers, as they now prepare for Saturday and a trip to North Oconee for the region meet.

At East Jackson, the boys trailed only East Jackson and Banks County, besting Jefferson, Madison and Commerce.

Individually, D.J. Ledford finished seventh overall with a time of 18:24, while Austin Moster placed 11th overall with a personal best time of 19:31.

John Florentine, Zach Knight and Tyler Ledford finished under 20:30. Fernando Alarcon and Christian Sanchez finished under 22:00.

The girls trailed only Jefferson and East Jackson, besting Banks County, Madison County and Commerce.

The girls were led by race winner Brittany Aikens, who recorded a time of 20:04. Rachel Pasko placed second overall with a personal best time of 21:03.

Lexie Miller and Lauren Turner both ran under 24:00, while Katie Maiolo and Susie Diesch both turned in good performances.
