Jefferson falls to Wesleyan at State

The trip to state for the Jefferson Lady Dragons volleyball team was a short one, as they lost out early on to Wesleyan 0-3.

“We were excited to be there and accomplished one of our team goals by doing so,” said coach Michael Paul. It’s the second time in the team’s three-year history that they’ve made it to the state tournament.

The set scores against Wesleyan were 11-25, 12-25 and 9-25.

“A/AA is one of the best divisions in the state due to the large number of private schools,” Paul said. “Of the 32 teams involved in our tournament 20 were private schools and only one of the 12 public schools advanced to the second round.”

Jefferson was one of only eight public AA schools to make it to the state tournament.

The Lady Dragons ended their season with a 5-4 area record, and a 17-18 overall record.
