The 47th season of football at W. Clair Harris Stadium began Friday night. The Winder-Barrow High School Bulldoggs opened their new season against visiting Jackson County. Like all season openers, there was plenty of excitement in the air along with some nervousness on the part of fans, players and coaches alike. As the final minutes counted down to kickoff, one might have observed the following:
•5:24 p.m.: A few cars are already in the newly repaved parking lot at WBHS next to W. Clair Harris Stadium. Food is being cooked for concession stand sales later that night.
•5:31 p.m.: The playing field, green from a summer of plentiful rain, is painted with black numbers and white hash marks.
