Cross Country Tigers Improve Time At Banks

Commerce’s cross country runners have been busy.

They competed last Thursday at Banks County and Tuesday at East Jackson Comprehensive High School in the sixth MainStreet News Meet.
The MainStreet race, started in 2003, crowns a champion for the area covered by the MainStreet Newspapers.

Hosted by East Jackson, only varsity runners are allowed to enter. The race stretched 3.1 miles starting and finishing in Eagles Stadium. The competing schools included Commerce, East Jackson, Banks County, Jackson County, Jefferson and Madison County.

Thursday

Running at Banks County, Commerce improved its times for the boys over the season’s previous meet.
Coach Mark Hale said he was pleased with the boys’ progress.

Ethan Thomas led the Tiger effort, finishing in 26.12. Following Thomas were Zach Scannell, 30.02; Juan Toribio, 30.47; Zan Peek, 31.07; Cody Nation, 31.17; and Jonathan Leffew, 32.39.

For the Commerce girls, Hannah Duckett ran the Banks County course in 31.35.
