The Winder-Barrow High School and Apalachee High School softball teams ushered in the 2013 season Monday as the two teams engaged in a pitcher’s dual.
In the end, the Lady Bulldoggs were able to earn a 2-0 victory, taking advantage of one of the game’s few scoring opportunities. While the two schools are both in 8-AAAAA, the contest will not count in the region standings as it was an additional game scheduled by WBHS coach Monty McClure and AHS coach Mike Cavey.
The Lady Bulldoggs (1-0) scored the game’s only runs in the top of the third. Carlee Thurmond scored on an RBI from Cathleen Nugue for the first run while Nugue later scored on a sacrifice fly by Bree Lynn to right field.
