Over the last six weeks I have been blessed with an incredible opportunity to travel outside of the United States for the first time in my life. The destination for my trip was one of the most beautiful places in the world — New Zealand.
I spent six weeks in the South Island of New Zealand, in the city of Christchurch to be exact. In my stay I learned a lot about New Zealand culture and was introduced to many new things.
Aside from all the different food and various other little things, one of the biggest differences in culture was New Zealand’s most popular sport — rugby.
I was semi-familiar with rugby going into my trip. I was aware that the ball could only be passed backwards and I was also familiar with a few key terms within the sport such as scrums and tries, but I was not fully prepared for what I learned.
