A record setting coach is returning to Winder-Barrow High School.
Ron Garren, who most recently coached at Monroe Area High School, was officially approved Tuesday night by the Barrow County Board of Education as the new varsity boys coach at WBHS. Garren coached the Bulldoggs approximately two decades ago and remains one of the most successful coaches in school history.
“He’s been successful everywhere he’s been,” said WBHS principal Al Darby, a former player and assistant coach for Garren. “I believe he can relate to any kid’s background. He also knows how to build a successful program from the ground up, which means beginning at the elementary school level. We are very excited to have this opportunity to bring Coach Garren back to WBHS.”
