Dodging rain drops and rainouts, Madison County came up on the short end of a 10-9 game one lost to Franklin County on Saturday and fell in game two on Sunday to Rabun County 11-4.
In the opening game versus Franklin County, Bobby Bales and Josiah Kidd produced Madison County’s only hits. A host of Madison County players crossed the plate accounting for the nine runs scored. Wesley Johnson scored twice, while Kidd, Bales, Grant Guest, Kavy Childers, Conner Welch, Rayne Johnson and Cole Shaefer all touched home in the loss. Madison County took the early lead with two runs in the top of the second inning, but Franklin County answered with three in the home half of the inning. Franklin County then pulled ahead 10-2 with seven runs in the bottom of the third inning.
Madison County pulled to within one run by posting a seven spot of their own in the top of the fourth. The game was called at that point due to the tournament time limit. Grant Guest, Josiah Kidd and Conner Welch handled the pitching duties for Madison County.
Madison County returned to Habersham on Sunday and came up on the short end of an 11-4 loss to Rabun County. Rabun County scored in each of the time shortened four innings with the big blow coming in a seven run third inning. Madison County posted a run in the first inning after Josiah Kidd scored and added three more runs in the third frame after Rayne Johnson, Kidd and Wesley Johnson all scored.
Johnson, Kidd and Bobby Bales all contributed to the pitching duties in game two for Madison County. The two losses eliminated Madison County from tournament play.
