The Banks County High School Lady Leopards golf team placed second in the sectionals and is preparing for the state championships on May 20 at Chateau Elan. The Lady Leopards score came in two stokes behind Buford at 274.
Buford's leading score of 272 put them in the number one slot with West Hall taking the third slot with a 280 and White County in fourth with a 282. With two strokes separating the top two teams and two stokes separating the bottom two teams the state match looks to be an interesting match up.
Cara Gowder continued to be a low medallist in the 7-AAA region and had the second best score in the sectional. Dawson County golfer Madison Caldwell took top honors with a 74, beating Gowder by two strokes in the event.
Morgan Rylee, Jody Milford and Emily Coker rounded out the foursome for the Lady Leopards. Rylee turned in a round of 98, Milford shot an even 100 and Coker a 118.
