Corey Brakhage ran a 19:15 Tuesday to lead Madison County and help the Raiders avoid a last place finish at the MainStreet Newspapers meet at East Jackson.
The meet pitted six schools in the MainStreet coverage area against each other. Madison County’s boys finished fifth with 103 points, beating out Commerce, which was sixth with 259.
East Jackson (32) won the boys’ event while Banks County (51), Jackson County (76) and Jefferson (86) finished ahead of Madison County.
The Raider girls had just three runners compete, disqualifying them from a team score.
Jefferson (34) won the girls’ race followed by East Jackson (55), Jackson County (58) and Banks County (92).
Following Brakhage — who finished eighth — on the boys’ team were Jacob Collins (20th, 20:25), Marcus Bowen (23rd, 20:28), Scott Barnes (24th, 20:31) and Dalton Owensby (28th, 20:40), who were all separated by just 15 seconds.
