Softball Raiders drop opener at sectionals

MCHS playing Saturday morning in losers' bracket

The Madison County High School softball team will have to fight its way out of an early hole at the Class AAAA North Sectionals in Woodstock.

The Raiders (21-10) fell 6-0 to Hillgrove (25-10-1) Friday night in a game they trailed only 1-0 heading into the sixth inning. The game was delayed two hours due to rain.

Madison County takes on North Springs Saturday morning at 11 a.m. in the losers' bracket. The Raiders qualified for their first trip to state in three years by winning twice at the region tournament last week.
