East Jackson Comprehensive High School has a new head football coach.
The school recently hired Robert Andrews for the 2013 season.
Andrews has been an assistant football coach for 14 years, working with programs at Cumberland College, Wesleyan School and most recently Grayson High School.
As the defensive coordinator at Grayson, Andrews led one of the top-10 defenses in division AAAAAA football in the state for the last seven years.
During his tenure at Grayson, Andrews’ defense recorded 26 shutouts and led the Rams to the AAAAAA state quarterfinals five times.
Andrews also performed several other administrative duties at Grayson as a health and physical education department chair, an academic and eligibility coordinator and a unity council leader.
Andrews was responsible for hiring and managing personnel, insuring players were GHSA eligible, developing team leaders and academically advising members of the football team. At Grayson, Andrews assisted in sending over 50 students to play collegiate athletics at various levels.
Andrews obtained a bachelor of science degree at Mississippi College, his master of arts degree at the University of the Cumberlands and his specialist degree in educational administration and supervision from Lincoln Memorial University.
This is his first opportunity as a head coach.
His term at East Jackson will be effective March 1.
