Commerce Hosting Undefeated Wesleyan On Friday

The Commerce Tigers proved Friday night why many schools have a history of fearing them.

Commerce hit hard and often against Athens Christian Friday night, dominating the game in a 49-20 region win. The win improves the Tigers to 1-1 in region play and 2-4 overall. Commerce only has a few days to celebrate the homecoming victory before preparing to host the Wesleyan Wolves, at 8 p.m. this Friday

Commerce will look for its second region win while Wesleyan works to defend an undefeated region record. Commerce won the last match-up in 2001, 24-15.

Wesleyan, 3-0 in region play, only has two losses overall this season. In the past three games, the Wolves have only allowed 13 points and averaged 38 points a game. For the season, Wesleyan has scored 210 points and allowed only 60 points total – an average of 8.6 per game.

Commerce has scored 115 points and allowed 159, an average of 26.5 points per game. Wesleyan is currently atop the region 8-A standings, followed by Athens Academy and Social Circle. Commerce is fourth.
