Tigers regrouping after 1-2 week

On Saturday, the Tigers traveled to Tallulah Falls where they creamed the Indians 82-52.

After a sloppy first half, the Tigers held a narrow 36-31 lead. But once the third quarter began, the Commerce offense was rolling.

“Maybe we were sluggish from the night before (Jefferson game), but we fought through it,” said Tiger head coach Rob Brown.

The Tigers scored a whopping 46 points in the second half, securing an 82-52 victory over the Indians.

Three Tigers scored in double-digits including Jonathan Book (19 points), Tyre Treadwell (14 points) and Thomas McMillan (14 points, nine assists).

The day before, the Tigers suffered a debilitating loss to rival Jefferson.

The contest went back and forth all night long, with the game tied at 39 heading into the fourth quarter.

The Tiger offense effectively shut down and the Dragons ran away with the lead after a 13-4 run in a two-minute period.

That run included a 7-of-8 performance at the foul line for Jefferson, earning the Dragons a 63-55 win.

Thomas McMillan led the Tiger scoring effort with 25 points.

On Tuesday Jan. 29, the Tigers lost another close bout with sub-region leader, Lakeview Academy.

While the Tigers fell to the Lions 60-57, Brown noted the performance as one of the best games Commerce has played all year.

Even though the Tigers lost, their performance showed that they can go head-to-head with the best teams in the region.

Thomas McMillan posted 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Tyre Treadwell added 12 points for the Tigers.

Tuesday, the Tigers defeated Towns County 65-50.

Commerce will travel to Hebron Christian Academy on Thursday, and then host Pinecrest Academy on Friday for senior night. Both games tip off at 7:30 p.m.
