The A Team girls of Banks County Middle School added two more wins to their record this week. Taking down Commerce 33-31 and East Jackson 44-16 to improve to 13-1 on the season.
"This was a hard fought victory for us,” coach Steven Shedd said. “I do not think we were mentally prepared for this game. We started out extremely slow on offense and defense in the first half. Commerce had us on our heels early.”
Mya Jones of Commerce hit four three pointers in the first half of the game and the team was down 23-15 at halftime.
“We were able to increase our defensive pressure and begin to score on the inside against them in the second half,” Shedd said. “We were also able to get them into foul trouble early in the second half which enabled us to get to the free throw line. I love the character our team showed by coming back and winning this game."
Leading scorers for the Lady Leopards were Allison Smith with 12 points, Gabby Kennedy six points, Lauren Shedd four points, Kulia Beasley four points, Abby Baird three points and Kelyn Parson two points.
