EJCHS boys win 4 straight

The 62-60 win over North Oconee came after the Eagles edged Oconee County 62-57, and Commerce, 51-46 victory the previous week.

Jarron Davis led the Eagle scoring effort against Oconee County with 24 points, while Casey Reed put up 16 and Nathan Crumley had 11.

East Jackson head coach Brian Turner felt that the game should have been put away early in the fourth quarter, but “poor free throw shooting (0-7 in one stretch) kept Oconee in the game.”

However, Crumley and Davis went 4-4 on free throws in the closing minute to secure an Eagle victory.

“It was a great team effort on Friday, as we are missing some players and had to go deep into our bench,” said Turner.

Turner pointed specifically to the play of junior Caleb Hill.

“Hill, who did not score in the game gave us great minutes on the floor with his defense and rebounding, said Turner. “We always tell the players you never know when it will be your time, and Friday was Caleb’s. He took advantage of it.”

In the victory over Commerce, a 16-9 run in the third quarter stretched out an Eagle lead, while Nathan Crumley added some key free-throws down the stretch, holding on for an East Jackson win.

Davis led the scoring with 22 points, while Reed had 16.
