Swim Doggs dive back into competition Saturday

After a successful start to the season almost a month ago, the Winder-Barrow High School swimmers will return to the pool Saturday.

WBHS is set to swim at the Ruby Fulbright Aquarium in Clarkesville in a meet hosted by Habersham Central. The meet is scheduled to begin at noon.

“We are very excited to get back into the swing of having meets,” said Winder-Barrow coach Jennifer Blevins. “All of us are ready to get back to competition.”

The Swim Doggs will be without standouts Alex Hentenaar and Ian Hentenaar due to their club team state meet, but Blevins said the team will still have several strong swimmers left.

Nelson Lofton and Skyler Lowe have made the transition to the swim season following cross country. The team had also gained Amber Palermo and Timmy Villamater from the cross country program.

“All will have a chance to compete for the first time this season and Mitchell Buttler will also be back to competition,” Blevins said. “We look for Quinn (McDaniels) and Buttler to qualify for state. Both will be swimming the backstroke which they both qualified for state in last year.”
