Mat Wildcats gain experience at North Oconee

“Several of our less experienced wrestlers also got wins,” Stoudenmire said.

Saturday’s matches were another chance for the AHS wrestlers to continue to work into mat shape.

“They had a team pull out but it still worked out,” Stoudenmire said. “Everyone got five matches which is the limit for a day. We matched up and threw them out there. All the experience we can get at this point in the season helps.”

The Mat Wildcats competed with several gaps in the lineup. Stoudenmire sent some of his younger wrestlers to compete at Walnut Grove. At that event, Harrison Langston was third at 145 and Timmy McDaniel was fourth at 170.

“There were a few schools not at full strength,” Stoudenmire said of the North Oconee event. “It was a good day to match, get several matches and not worry about the team score. We didn’t have to worry about anyone being eliminated or sent home.”
