Basketball: East Jackson girls’ rally falls short

WEST HALL held off a fourth-quarter East Jackson rally last Tuesday as the Lady Eagles (0-2) fell 48-42 in their second game of the year.

Madison Wuertley paced East Jackson with 16 points, and Kelsey Palette added nine.

East Jackson led the Class AAA Lady Spartans 13-8 after a quarter but trailed 19-17 at the half and 36-28 heading into the final period. The Lady Eagles made a big run in the middle of the fourth quarter to cut the West Hall lead to two, but the Lady Spartans regrouped with some timely baskets down the stretch.
