BOTH the East Jackson boys' and girls' basketball teams fell to White County on the road to start the season.
•WHITE COUNTY 53, EAST JACKSON (GIRLS) 26: Kayla Thomas scored 12 points in a losing effort Monday in the Lady Eagles’ season opener as East Jackson fell at White County 53-26.
Kelsey Palette and Hannah Jackson each added five points.
“They hurt us bad on the boards,” said East Jackson coach Matt Gibbs, who was making his head coaching debut. “Offensive rebounding, they killed us. We played better in the second half but couldn’t overcome the first half deficit.”
East Jackson played West Hall Tuesday but results weren’t available at press time.
•WHITE COUNTY 74, EAST JACKSON (BOYS) 37: At White County, Jarron Davis was East Jackson’s lone scorer in double figures with 15 points but White County rolled to a 37-point win.
Nathan Crumley finished with nine points, Casey Reed added seven and Tyree Rakestraw finished with five.
East Jackson faced West Hall Tuesday but results weren’t available at press time.
