The Commerce Cheer Tigers earned a second place finish at the Class-A state final meet last Saturday in Columbus.
After earning a second-place finish at the Class-A sectional meet, the Cheer Tigers advanced to the state finals where they performed their two-and-a-half-minute routine against 15 other squads from around the state.
The second-place finish marked the Tigers’ seventh runner-up finish at state to go along with their six state titles.
Head coach Diane Cotrell praised the Tiger squad for its year-round efforts and dedication.
“The girls did an outstanding job and we were very excited with the results,” said Cotrell. “These young ladies practiced five days a week beginning August 1 to perfect a two-and-a-half-minute routine for state. The girls worked and trained together as a team for all the stunts, dance, jumps and tumbling sequences to hit.”
She added that there are levels of difficulty in each area they must perfect in the routine to be successful in performing to reach the state level to compete for the title.
“I am very proud of the outstanding performances these young ladies had on Saturday,” Cotrell said.
