For the first time in four years, region 7-AAAAA has a new softball champion.
Mill Creek lost 3-1 to Peachtree Ridge on Friday, ending the Lady Hawks’ bid for a fourth consecutive region title.
Mill Creek begins sectional play next week.

After last Tuesday’s 4-2 loss to Peachtree Ridge, Mill Creek faced a must win situation in Thursday’s game against North Gwinnett.
The Lady Hawks rose to the challenge, beating North Gwinnett 4-0 and keeping their hopes for a fourth consecutive region championship alive.
Morgan Bullock pitched a complete-game shutout, striking out 13.
Hannah Graham was 2-for-3 with a stolen base. Cynthia Parkhurst had a hit and two RBIs. Devin Dossman added a hit, a stolen base and scored twice.
The Hawks scored their first run when freshman Jenna Holland doubled and then advanced to third on a wild pitch. Holland later scored on a sacrifice fly by freshman Nikki Sagermann.
After the win, the Lady Hawks needed to beat Peachtree Ridge twice on Friday in order to claim the region title.
Mill Creek beat Peachtree Ridge 2-1 in the first game. But in the second game, the Lady Lions fought back.
Peachtree Ridge pitcher Krysten Connelly pitched a complete game giving up only six hits in the 3-1 win.
