Garrett wins contest during tough week

Charles Garrett of Winder won the Barrow Journal football contest for Oct. 24 edging six other contestants on the tiebreaker.

Garrett correctly predicted nine winners last week and also correctly predicted 52 points would be scored in the Winder-Barrow High School vs. Cedar Shoals contest.

Garrett edged Aaron Cooper, Tiffany Cooper, Marvin Ledbetter, John Sheats, Angela Smith and Lisa Freeman for first place.

It was a tough week for the pickers. All contestants missed at least three games.

Those contestants correctly picking eight wins were Ray Fumea, Dwight Barnes, Randy Franklin, Jimmie Shedd, Michael McDonald, Mike Murphy, Louise H. Etheridge, Susan White, Deborah Cooper, Reed Sheats and Steve Taylor.

Those with seven correct include Donald Landers Jr., Allyssa Landers, Ray Lee, Brandon Shedd, Martha Yarbrough, Donald Redmon, Johnny Everett, Shirley Witte, Larry Black, Sue Sheats, Kimm Everett, Sandra Ledbetter, Michael Cameron, Kris Hoerler, Rebecca D. Freeman, Ed Still, Becky Thompson and Ken Moore.

See page 5B in the Oct. 31 edition for the new football contest. The winner earns a $50 prize.
