The Apalachee High School competition cheerleaders continued to improve and delivered a third-place performance Saturday at Loganville High School.
“Saturday was incredible,” said AHS coach Meridith Wages. “We had a strong week of practice last week as quite a few of our kids improved skills. Two of our girls who have been waiting for just the right amount of confidence to throw their standing tucks, threw them in practice last week. It fired the entire team up, so much that one of our boys threw his handspring full also. It was an exciting moment in the season — one that we will all never forget.”
With those developments, the Cheer Cats reworked the opening standing tumbling formation and the running tumbling sequence as well. The athletes even decided to wait to tell their parents so they could be surprised on Saturday.
