Lady Dragons hit post season play

The Jefferson Lady Dragons softball team began region tournament play this week, after wrapping up their regular season last week with a loss to the East Jackson Lady Eagles and to Vidalia.

Number four seed Jefferson lost 3-2 Tuesday to Dawson County in the first round of region 8-AA tournament play, and will face Rabun County Tuesday at 2 p.m.

A loss on Thursday would end Jefferson’s season.

The Lady Dragons hoped that they could end their season with a pair of wins. But it didn’t work out that way, as they first lost to East Jackson 3-0 last Tuesday, then dropped to Vidalia 13-1 on Saturday.

The only hit Jefferson was able to get off of East Jackson came off the bat of Devin Stanley, who went 1-2 on the day. Kara Perry recorded the loss, giving up two hits and three runs while striking out three.

The Lady Dragons ended their regular season with a 5-4 region record, and 12-14 overall.
