Lady Panthers look for path into tournament

After a near miss in their final regular season game, the Lady Panthers fast pitch softball team of Jackson County began post-season play on Tuesday, traveling to Hart County to face the Lady Bulldogs on Tuesday. Results of that game were not available at press time.

A win will send the Panthers to Oconee County for region tournament play, while a loss would pit them against the winner of and Eastside/Franklin County match up.

The Lady Panthers were hoping to keep themselves from being blanked in region play when they entered into last Tuesday’s game against Elbert County. But it didn’t work out, as the Lady Blue Devils recorded a 1-0 victory.

Hailey Shinall pitched a two-hitter, and also recorded the only two hits for Jackson County on the night.

“We played exceptionally well defensively, but we didn’t put a complete game together at the plate,” said coach Tommy Fountain.
