Landers earns narrow victory in Journal contest

Donald Landers Jr. of Winder correctly forecast the winner in all 12 games last week, but needed the tiebreaker to earn the $50 prize.

Landers edged out Kimm Everett of Winder on the tiebreaker by predicting 70 points would be scored in the Winder-Barrow/Flowery Branch game. The Falcons defeated the Bulldoggs 54-14 for a total of 68 points. Everett predicted 56 points.

Those with 11 correct picks included Bradley Pass, Eddie Wallace, Pam Yarbrough, Greg Prickett, Mellissa Landers and Julia Duane.

Those with 10 correct included Angela Smith, Caleb Prickett, Deborah Prickett, Cory Landers, Rebecca D. Freeman, Deborah Cooper, Lola M. Freeman and Ken Moore.

Contestants with nine correct included Johnny Everett, Sandra Ledbetter, Mike Murphy, Brandon Shedd, Jimmie Shedd, Donald Landers, Lisa Freeman, Randy Franklin, Donald Redmon, Tiffany Cooper, James Crawford and Dwight Barnes.

See page 5B in today’s edition for the new football contest with a new batch of games. The winner earns a $50 prize each week for his or her efforts.
