East Jackson High School’s homecoming celebration was spoiled last Friday night by visiting Banks County.
The Eagles dropped a 42-0 Region 8-AA contest as they struggled to mount any offense. East Jackson enters its bye week at 1-5 overall and 1-4 in region play.
After the teams traded punts to open the game, the Eagles began moving the football with quarterback Evan Williamson at the helm. East Jackson began the series at its own 25 and picked up two first downs on passes to Kaharie Beasley and Teri Cox.
The drive stalled, however, after the Eagles reached the Banks County 33-yard line and East Jackson turned the football over on downs.

East Jackson falls to Banks in 8-AA contest
The Leopards then scored their first touchdown on a 9-yard run by Justin Beasley, the leading rusher in the Northeast Georgia area. The score gave BCHS a 7-0 lead with 3:46 left in the first quarter.
The Leopards found the endzone again on a 10-yard quarterback keeper by Chris Porter to stretch their lead to 14-0 with 9:18 left before halftime. Another three-and-out by East Jackson would lead to another Leopard score, this time a 9-yard run by Justin Beasley with just 2:08 remaining before halftime.
Looking to put something on the scoreboard before halftime, the Eagles began moving the football and reached the BCHS 28. They converted a fourth-and-three play on a pass to Kaharie Beasley. However, two personal foul penalties would stop the drive, and East Jackson head coach Frank Caputo was ejected from the game.
The second half was all Banks County as the Leopards tacked on three more scores and limited East Jackson to minus-3 yards on just nine offensive plays. The Eagles only had three possessions in the second half.
Time To Regroup
East Jackson, like all teams in Region 8-AA, is off this Friday.
The Eagles will return to action Oct. 17 when they travel to Rabun County to face the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m.
