The Banks County High School Lady Leopard Softball Team will advance to the state softball tournament this week. BCHS won against White County 5-4 and lost to Fannin County 5-8 in the region tournament last week to advance.
The Lady Leopards scored two runs in the first inning and three runs in the fifth inning to take the lead from White County for the win.
Kaitlyn Stewart led the Lady Leopards with two at bats and two runs scored, Taylor Kennedy, Morgan Rylee and McKenna Rylee scored one run each. Haley Warner had three RBIs, Lindsey Elliott and Morgan Cox had one RBI each.
Savannah Denton pitched seven innings finishing the game with five hits , four runs, three earned runs, one walk and struck out two batters. Denton faced 32 batters and threw 63 strikes and 38 ball pitches.
Fannin took an early lead scoring one run in the first inning and a second run in the second inning. The Lady Leopards roared back to score four runs in the third inning and the lead was lost when Fannin scored four runs in the fourth inning and added two more in the fifth inning to take the win from BCHS.
Taylor Kennedy scored one run off two hits, McKenna Rylee scored a run, Brenna Parson scored two runs and Leia Rylee scored a run for the Leopards.
Mallory Parson pitched six innings allowing seven hits , eight runs, five earned runs, five walks and struck out one batter.
The Banks County Lady Leopards will take on Blessed Trinity on Wednesday, October 10, in Roswell. The games will be on the Blessed Trinity campus. This is the best of three game series. The first two games will be played at 2:30 p.m. and approximately 4:30 p.m. A third game will be played on Thursday if needed.
