CHS - 14 GWA - 26: Tigers are dealt first loss of the season

Commerce (4-1) received its first loss of the season Friday to region 8-A opponent George Walton Academy (4-1).

Commerce got on the board first when quarterback Drew Whitfield rushed in a one-yard touch down in the first quarter.

George Walton answered with a rushing touchdown of its own on the ensuing drive.

Coming out of halftime with the score tied 7-7, Commerce forced a fumble on the half opening kick-off. Starting the drive with excellent field position, Terrick Ramsey broke loose on a 25-yard touchdown run putting the Tigers up 14-7.

Once the fourth quarter rolled around, George Walton's offense controlled the ball and the game. The Bulldogs scored on consecutive drives, while the Tigers were scarcely able to get a first down.

George Walton Academy dominated the fourth quarter, dealing the Tigers a 26-14 region loss.

Quay Little led the Tiger offense with 12 carries for 70 yards.

Chase Ledbetter led the Tiger defensive squad in tackles, earning 15.

Commerce will look to rebound next week, when it faces region opponent Athens Christian at home.

CHS rules Jackson County with wins over East Jackson and Jefferson. Hope they get back on the winning track!
