Volleyball: JHS wins silver division of Spikefest

THE JEFFERSON volleyball team finished strong over the weekend to win the silver division of the Ampest Spikefest in Conyers.

The Dragons closed with straight set wins over Mt. Zion and Warner Robins Saturday to win the bracket. Jefferson beat Mt. Zion 25-21, 25-11 in the semifinals and Warner Robins 25-15, 25-21 in the title match.

“Our kids did well this weekend against all the AAAA and AAAAA teams we played,” Jefferson coach Mike Paul said. “We competed well and learned a few things about ourselves along the way.”

Sarah Wood led Jefferson in the semifinals and finals matches with a combined 26 kills and seven digs. Other stat leaders in those two matches were Paige Watson (17 assists, six aces, five digs), Grace Williamson (16 assists and nine aces), Lindsey Nilsen (11 kills), Amanda Flowers (seven kills, three aces) and Avery Mixon (three digs).
