JEFFERSON closed its regular season with a 1-0 out-of-region loss to North Oconee Monday to finish 14-14.
Morgan McKinney went 1-for-3 with a double, managing the Dragons’ only hit. She also threw six innings and took the loss. McKinney surrendered one run (earned), seven hits and two walks. She struck out three batters.
North Oconee scored the game’s only run in the bottom of the sixth.
Jefferson has earned a no. 2 seed out of Region 8-AA. It will play Social Circle Saturday in a double header starting at 1 p.m.
If the Dragons split, they’ll play game 3 Monday.
If Jefferson wins both games, it will play Oct. 4 for the region title.
•JEFFERSON 3, OGLETHORPE COUNTY 0: Behind a one-hit shutout from McKinney, Jefferson blanked Oglethorpe County 3-0 Thursday in its Region 8-AA regular season final.
McKinney surrendered no walks and four strikeouts.
Meagan Faulkner (1-for-4) and Erin Jackson (1-for-3) both drove in runs for the Dragons, who finished with five hits. Jackson homered for Jefferson in the fifth inning and Faulkner doubled home a run later that inning.
•JEFFERSON 4, RABUN COUNTY 3: Lindsey Miles went 3-for-4 with two triples, a double and two runs scored to lead Jefferson to a 4-3 win over Rabun County Wednesday.
Savannah Snapp threw six innings to earn the win. She gave up eight hits, one walk and three runs (all earned). Emily Holman worked the seventh inning to notch the save.
