Stadium to be formally dedicated to Coach Lamb

The Commerce Booster Club invites all alumni football players who played under Coach Ray Lamb to a reception in his honor on Friday, Oct. 5, in the Commerce High School cafeteria from 6 to 7:30 p.m. prior to the Tigers’ football game.

All former players are also invited to join Coach Lamb on the field for a halftime ceremony during the game against Athens Christian, which begins at 8 p.m.

The school will formally dedicate the stadium to Lamb after a decision last May to rename the stadium Tiger Field at Ray Lamb Stadium.

Lamb was the head football coach at Commerce High from 1967 to 1988. He led the Tigers to eight region championships and the 1985 state championship.

Lamb achieved an illustrious coaching career with an overall record of 249 wins, 103 losses and 11 ties. He was inducted into the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Hall of Fame in 2006 for his success as a head coach.
