TV spotlight to shine on Wildcats

“They called back in the spring and asked if we were interested in having them feature us,” AHS athletic director Brian Moore said. “We talked with Clarke Central about it and thought it was a great idea for both programs.”

WSB officials visited AHS last week to begin preparations for Thursday. Several cameras will be used for the game including endzone, sideline, press box and shoulder.

“It’s exciting because it will be the only game in town,” Moore said. “We feel there will be an even larger crowd than normal. We want to make it as big of a deal as we can. Our students, players and coaches are all eager to be a part of it.”

The gates will open at R. Harold Harrison Stadium at the normal time with admission price remaining $7, Moore said.

AHS head football coach Shane Davis said while the game itself may put the Wildcats at somewhat of a disadvantage, the bigger picture has to be looked at.

“Clarke Central was off last Friday while we played against a very sound opponent.” Davis said. “We have a short week to prepare for them and they have been working for us. Still, this puts our football program in a positive light to be featured this way. That’s the important thing in all of this. Sometimes having a week off is overrated. We were off the week before Gainesville and it didn’t help us so maybe it won’t hurt us this week.”
