Mill Creek golfers win titles
Mill Creek High School seniors Emilie Burger and Shawn Yim won the overall girls’ and boys’ titles at the 15th annual Southeastern Junior Golf Tour UGA/Autotrader.com Invitational in Athens, GA, this past weekend.
Yim shot a 70 on the first day to take a one-shot lead in the male 16-19 division. Yim’s second round score of 74 was enough for a one-shot victory as he finished the tournament with a 144.
John Skeadas III of Savannah and Tyler Erickson of Bonaire, Ga., tied for second with scores of 145. Skeadas took the second place trophy after a scorecard playoff.
In the girls’ division, Burger erased a five shot deficit to take the title in the final round of the tournament. Burger shot a final round 72 to clinch the win in the female 15-19 division. Burger ended the tournament with a two round total of 147.
Carrie Metz of Carnesville, Ga., finished two strokes back with a 149. Kendall Wright of Suwanee, Ga., and Yugene Lee of Athens tied for third at 151. After a scorecard playoff, Wright took the third place trophy.
