The Banks County High School fast pitch Lady Leopards celebrated senior night on Wednesday, September 19, in between the JV and varsity games. Six senior players are on the team this year, Toni Mullins, Morgan Cox, Sabrina Porter, McKenna Rylee, Sara Holloway and Victoria Taylor.
The coaches and administration lined up on the field with the JV and varsity teams to recognize the seniors. One by one, the seniors were called to come out on the field and receive gifts for the years of play they had committed to BCHS.
BCHS won the senior night game against White County 5-3. The Leopards had a five run sixth inning and held off the Warriors in the top of seventh inning. White County allowed the Leopards 12 hits to win the game.
Senior Sabrina Porter hit a two RBI single and scored one run, Senior Toni Mullins went two for three with a single, one bunt for a hit, one RBI and one run scored. Junior Taylor Kennedy went three for four with two bunts for hits, a single and one RBI. Senior Morgan Cox went two for three with two singles and one run scored.
Junior Savannah Denton gets the win from the mound pitching a whole game. Denton only allowed six hits in the game.
The Leopards continued their winning streak on Thursday, September 20, with a win over East Hall 11-5. The Vikings gave up 14 hits in the game against the Leopards.
Morgan Cox went three for four with three singles and two RBIs. Taylor Kennedy went two for four with a double, one Home Run, three RBIs and two runs. McKenna Rylee went two for four with two singles, four runs scored and had four stolen bases.
Kaitlyn Stewart went two for four with two singles, two RBIs and scored one run. Haley Warner went two for four with one single, one double, one RBI and scored one run.
Junior Savannah Denton gets the win pitching a complete game. The Leopards will compete in the Region Tournament on Saturday, September 29th at East Hall. The first game is scheduled to start at 10:00am and a possible second game at 12:00 pm.
BCHS is fourth in the region with an overall record of 13-9 and a region record of 4-3. Buford 18-1, 6-0 sits at the top of the region with Dawson 13-6-1, 5-0 and Fannin 18-8, 5-2 taking the second and third spots.
