Personal records fall for AHS runners

The Apalachee High School cross country runners were at their personal best this past weekend.

Numerous team members established new individual records at the East Jackson High School Eagle Run.

“It was a fast course, but slower than last year’s course from what I was told,” AHS coach Alex Holmes said.

The Wildcats finished ninth among 19 teams. They were lead by senior Will Morgan who ran a personal best of 18:01. Junior, Nick Zvirbulis, who ran a personal best of 18:14 as did senior Stephen Sassano in 18:30. Sophomore Chandler Campbell ran a new personal record of 18:35 as did junior, Jared Burney in 18:53.

The AHS girls finished seventh among 18 teams. They were lead by Madison Rogan who ran a personal best of 21:45 and finished the race 12th overall. It was her second time medaling this year in three meets total.

Casey Todd also ran a personal best of 23:06 as did Analee Bradach (24:12) and Skylar Rogan (24:12). All three Lady Wildcats are freshmen.

“We will work hard before this weekend’s meet on Saturday at Oglethorpe County High School,” Holmes said.
