WBHS runners return to action Saturday

Approximately 30 schools are expected to compete.

“It’s a very open course,” Lofton said. “Hopefully, we’ll get some fast times. The fast competition will push our athletes to run harder. For us, we view it as another day of training.”

With no meet this past weekend, the Bulldogg and Lady Bulldogg runners concentrated on training.

“It’s still early in the season, but we are pleased with how our athletes are doing,” Lofton said. “We have been focusing on more individualized workouts. It’s been tough, but we have worked very hard.”

In the most recent statewide poll, the Lady Doggs are No. 6.

“Saturday’s course is a ‘moderate’ course,” said WBHS girls coach Amanda Partee-Martin. “The runners have been doing workouts very specific for their own needs. We are still focused on meeting times and being consistent at running a pace.”
