The Commerce Lady Tigers recently earned two region wins propelling them to an 11-5 overall record.
The Tigers beat Providence Christian last Thursday with a narrow 4-2 victory.
Commerce jumped out to a quick lead, earning a run in the first inning, a run in the second and two in the third.
Providence rallied to score two runs in the bottom of the third, however both teams failed to post anymore scores after the third inning.
Tiger head coach Pam Canup made note of how well her team is working together.
“Almost everyone had at least one hit,” she said. “It was a great team effort.”
Savannah Barnett, who was the winning pitcher, finished the game with an RBI. Kaylee Partin, Bridget Barnett and Mattie Canup each drove in a run as well.
Commerce traveled to Hebron Christian last Monday, smashing the Lions 8-3.
The Tigers plated two runs in the first inning, one in the second, one in the third, three in the fourth and one more in the fifth.
Bridgett Barnett was the winning pitcher for the, limiting Hebron to three runs, while Libbi Lance led the Tigers at bat with two RBIs.
Canup also made special mention of Sydney McClure, Mattie Canup and Savannah Barnett, all of whom played well and earned hits against Hebron.
“We are really doing some things right,” said Canup. “We fielded a bunt and threw the runner out at second and got the lead runner. A ball was hit deep and Hannah Crumley got it, threw it into the cut-off, and she threw it in and got the out at home. We’re still trying to really work on those fundamentals. We’ve got to be able to do those kinds of things.”
The Tigers lost 7-2 to region 8-A leader George Walton Academy on Tuesday.
Commerce will take on Hebron Christian at home on Thursday, Sept. 13.
The Tigers will travel to North Hall on Friday to play in a weekend-long tournament.
