Leading into the game against Monroe Area, Winder-Barrow High School coach David Wagner was concerned about his opponent’s overall team speed.
By the time the game was over, it was easy to see why Wagner had concerns.
The Bulldoggs (0-2) saw a Purple Hurricane team filled with speed run away with a 58-14 victory at the Purple Pit in Monroe. Coach Matt Fligg’s Monroe Area squad took control from the beginning and was in complete command with a 51-0 halftime advantage.
“This is as good of a Monroe Area team that I have seen since I have coached in Georgia,” Wagner said. “They have lightning speed and also play great defense with tremendous size up front. They are simply fast and explosive.”

Winder-Barrow High School has talented football players. They have heart and want to win games. That's why I don't understand why they're always the underdog. Maybe someone else knows more then I, but I just can't figure our why they can't at least break even during a season. Best wishes to the students!

Break even? They haven't won a game in over two years, going on three, it appears. The awfulness of this program is unprecedented. How many winless seasons does it take before they look to make a coaching change? 4, 5, or 6?
