The Mill Creek varsity boys’ cross country team finished third at last weekend’s Cavalier Classic in Spartanburg, S.C.
The Hawks were led by Austin Boetje, who earned an individual medal by placing 13th in 17:03.
Nick Bava finished second for the Hawks, placing 22nd overall with his time of 17:22. Tim Heffner followed with a time of 17:23. Also scoring for Mill Creek were Brandon Gaunt (25th, 17:28) and Steven Zwick (28th, 17:35).
Mill Creek head coach Andy Christie was pleased with the Hawks’ effort.
"I was thrilled with our performance,” he said. “We got our one through five gap back down to 32 seconds, and we had three runners set new personal records and the others were all near theirs. We continue to improve, which is what I want to see at this point of the season.”
Christie said he hopes to have some great places at the Alexander Invitational this weekend in Douglasville.
