Lady Panthers looking for region win

The Jackson County Lady Panthers fast pitch softball team went into Tuesday’s regular season finale Tuesday hoping to prevent themselves from going into post-season on a four game losing streak by winning against Elbert County.

The Lady Panthers entered last week with two opportunities to break into the region win column. The first held little hope, as they faced 8-AAA region leader Oconee County, and found themselves on the losing end of an 8-0 final.

The next game held as much hope as the first, as they faced the region’s second place team on Thursday. The opponent was different, but the result similar, as Jackson County was held scoreless in seven innings, losing 9-0 in the end.

The losses left the Lady Panthers with an 0-9 region record, and a 6-23 record overall.
